“Pickle, the new tickle”

The flavours in food are not only diverse but quite experimental. The main course can be made more exciting with the help of different pickles.

Raw Materials

The pickle that I have chosen is onion pickle.

The Raw materials required for onion pickle is :

  • 2–3 dice cut onions
  • 150 ml Vinegar
  • 150 ml water
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • Salt
  • Red Chilli Powder

Pickling Method

In this Pickle we require an empty glass Jar. The dice cut onion slices are added to the Jar. Then add salt, red chilli powder and sugar to the vinegar and water, make a mixture and add to the Glass Jar. Mix it well and keep for a week.

Process/Finished Product

The pickle is finally ready to be consumed.

Sensory Evaluation

The pickle taste sour because of the vinegar and a bit spicy due to red chilli powder.

It taste both sweet and salty adding that tangy flavour.

The pickle taste amazing with simple food like porridge or rice Pulao.

If one prefers having breads with any main course vegetable then also this pickle can taste amazing.

It taste good with plain cucumber and tomato salad as well.

Learning’s

I learnt the art of simplicity and rooted flavours. The skill of mixing spices and flavouring food to create something amazing and useful as a side dish with almost every main course meal.
